November 16, 2024: Tokyo DMAT Medical Aid Training
To mark its 20th anniversary this year, the Tokyo Disaster Medical Assistance Team (Tokyo DMAT) conducted a large-scale medical aid training exercise. The drill simulated a train-car collision at a railroad crossing and was carried out in cooperation with the Tokyo Fire Department and East Japan Railway Company.
November 16, 2024: Tokyo DMAT Medical Aid Training
Tokyo DMAT is a medical team directly under TMG, consisting of seven medical institutions and approximately 1,000 members. It can be deployed to the scene of natural disasters, such as major earthquakes, and urban disasters, such as large-scale traffic accidents, and alongside firefighting units, is specially trained to provide life-saving treatment to large numbers of sick and wounded people. Tokyo DMAT is deployed to disaster sites at any time of the day or night to protect the lives and safety of Tokyo residents. On the day of the training, a Presentation Ceremony for Governor’s Letter of Appreciation was held for relevant distinguished contributors.

November 2024: Purple Light-Up during the Campaign to Eliminate Violence Against Women
As part of the Campaign to Eliminate Violence Against Women, various awareness-raising activities were carried out by the Cabinet Office and local governments. The purple light-up at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and other locations symbolizes the commitment to eradicating violence against women. It conveys an important message to victims: Don’t suffer alone—first seek advice.
