To mark its 20th anniversary this year, the Tokyo Disaster Medical Assistance Team (Tokyo DMAT) conducted a large-scale medical aid training exercise. The drill simulated a train-car collision at a railroad crossing and was carried out in cooperation with the Tokyo Fire Department and East Japan Railway Company.

Tokyo DMAT is a medical team directly under TMG, consisting of seven medical institutions and approximately 1,000 members. It can be deployed to the scene of natural disasters, such as major earthquakes, and urban disasters, such as large-scale traffic accidents, and alongside firefighting units, is specially trained to provide life-saving treatment to large numbers of sick and wounded people. Tokyo DMAT is deployed to disaster sites at any time of the day or night to protect the lives and safety of Tokyo residents. On the day of the training, a Presentation Ceremony for Governor’s Letter of Appreciation was held for relevant distinguished contributors.

To promote women’s activities in the business field, the “N E W CONFERENCE,” a conference that brings together female executives, was held at the Tokyo International Forum.

At the conference, the renowned tidying consultant Kondo Marie gave a keynote speech titled “Konmari’s Work Techniques for a Thrilling Life.”

Governor Koike offered words of support in her speech, “I would like to see Tokyo enable women to shine in every part of society. Women’s activities will create new ideas and lead to new value.”

During the Tokyo International Industry Exhibition 2024, the Tokyo Venture Technology Award Ceremony was held at Tokyo Big Sight to recognize innovative and promising products, technologies, and services developed by small and medium-sized enterprises.

Among 137 applications in fiscal 2024, the grand prize went to Craif Inc.’s miSignal Scan, a urine test kit that uses microRNA analysis to provide highly accurate cancer risk assessments.

Governor Koike said in her congratulations, “The world of technology is advancing rapidly. To succeed in fierce international competition, we must create new value. The power of small and medium-sized enterprises and startups is essential for Tokyo to stay at the forefront of innovation.

As part of the Campaign to Eliminate Violence Against Women, various awareness-raising activities were carried out by the Cabinet Office and local governments. The purple light-up at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre and other locations symbolizes the commitment to eradicating violence against women. It conveys an important message to victims: Don’t suffer alone—first seek advice.

Ariake Arena was lit up in purple.

The Komagata Bridge over the Sumida River was also lit up in purple.
