September 19, 2024: National Deaf Volleyball Women’s National Team, Winning the World Championships 2024 First Time, Pays Courtesy Visit to Governor
The Japan women’s national team won their first title at the World Deaf Volleyball Championships 2024 held in Tomigusuku, Okinawa Prefecture, in June. Athletes, the team manager and other staff members from Tokyo paid a courtesy visit to Governor Koike.

The athletes shared their excitement over their recent Championship victory and expressed strong motivation as they prepare for the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics to be held next year.

Governor Koike congratulated the team, saying, “My heartfelt congratulations on your first World Championship win. I look forward to seeing you achieve remarkable results at next year’s Deaflympics as well.”

Governor Koike emphasized the importance of addressing energy issues, saying, “This summer brought numerous extremely hot days. As a major energy consumer, Tokyo must urgently tackle issues such as the broader adoption of renewable energy and the expansion of energy conservation measures.”

The countdown has begun for the “World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25,” the world's premier athletics competition, set to take place at the National Stadium starting September 13, 2025. To mark one year until the event, a commemorative celebration was held at LaQua Garden in Tokyo Dome City.

September 28, 2024: Giant Panda Li Li and Shin Shin Final Viewing
September 28 was the last day for visitors to see the giant pandas at Ueno Zoo, Li Li (male) and Shin Shin (female), as they are being returned to China. Over 2,000 fans of the pandas visited the zoo.
