The TMG Bureau of Transportation organized a special tour for elementary school students to witness the inspection process of Toei (Tokyo Metropolitan) buses. The students were given a unique opportunity to explore various parts of the bus that are usually off-limits to the public at the Shinonome Factory in Koto Ward of the Toei Bus, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Participating children sat in the driver’s seat of a bus and were given an explanation of on-board equipment.

Children who came closer to the bus tires were surprised at their size.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government held an event ahead of the national holiday “Mountain Day” for people to get to know and become more familiar with the mountains. At the Tokyo Tama Mirai Messe in Hachioji City, a variety of events such as workshops, hands-on corners, and exhibitions related to the mountains were held.

Acorn pachinko was popular with children.

Students of Hachioji Jissen High School gave a powerful calligraphy performance.

Many families enjoyed the button spinner-making experience corner.

With the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 coming up in September next year, a workshop for children was held at the National Stadium, which will serve as the main venue. Children took part in a stadium tour and listened to the experiences of athlete Fukushima Chisato.

The children also had a chance to see torches of the “Torch Relay” used at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Participating children actively shared their opinions and impressions.

As Typhoon No. 10, a powerful storm, approached the coastline, officials from various bureaus of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government convened a crisis management meeting to coordinate response measures and ensure preparedness.

The meeting began with reports on the general situation of Typhoon No. 10 and the damage situation in Japan.

That was followed by a rundown of the initiatives and preparation status of each TMG bureau.

Governor Koike directed all bureaus to establish systems to mitigate potential damage and ensure timely, accurate information is provided to Tokyo residents.
