Edo Tokyo Kirari Project “AMAZING EDO TOKYO: Treasures of Tokyo for Tomorrow” Held on June 6, 2024
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been promoting the Edo Tokyo Kirari Project that aims to refine traditional skills and techniques from a new perspective and pass them onto future generations. From June 6 to 16, an exhibition was held at Seiko House in Ginza to exhibit, introduce and sell the products of the project model business operators.

A demonstration was held by Ryukobo, the only kumihimo (Japanese plaited cords) studio in Tokyo.

Edo Kumiko Tatematsu demonstrated intricate works of latticed wood.

Ibasen showcased rounded and folding fans, highlighting the “chicness” of Edo culture to audiences both in Japan and abroad.

Edo Kiriko works, a traditional glass craft with delicate patterns, were exhibited by Kimoto Glassware to showcase their glass products that combine traditional techniques with innovative designs.

“Exhibition of Humans, Nature & Technology = Future - Well-being for human & nature” dedicated to the harmonious growth and nurturing of both humans and nature, is being held at the 1F Space of SusHi Tech Square at Yurakucho from June 19 to September 23. This exhibition features innovative works by creators and researchers, offering visitors new immersive experiences.

“GREENSCAPE” (created by Tanaka Kaoru): This piece explores the integration of humans, plants and AI, posing the question of what might happen when these elements coexist. Created with the intention of allowing nature to grow alongside us, it invites visitors to reflect on the future of our relationship with the natural world and technology.

“Hallucination of Confession” (created by Kishi Yuma): a work in response to the question of what might happen when humans, animals and AI are mingled together. This work was created with the intention of using AI to talk to fictional birds.

“Fighting Bull + Tiger” (created by Kaji Seiya). This artwork explores the possibilities that arise when humans, animals and sustainability intersect. Created with the intention of regenerating waste materials, it invites the viewer to contemplate the implications of these combinations for the future

“Tokyo Metropolitan Government DX Award 2024” was held on June 24 at the government office. The award is intended to focus on the ingenuity of using digital technology in the fields of Tokyo administration and widely share and celebrate the efforts inside and outside the government.

Deaflympics Tryouts Held on June 29, 2024
The Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, a sports festival for the hearing-impaired, will be held in Tokyo in November next year.
Prior to that, on June 29, there were tryouts to discover potential athletes and a cheering event at the Fuchu City General Gymnasium. Handball, taekwondo, shooting, wrestling practice were held in simulated games, and a cheer squad was formed with mascots.
