January 5, 2023 The Year's First Auction at the Toyosu Market 1/4
On January 5, the year’s first market (first auction) was held at the Toyosu Market (Koto Ward). At the fishery wholesale building tuna was auctioned and at the vegetable and fruit building treasure ships, boat-shaped vessels filled with vegetables and fruits, were auctioned.
This year’s highest tuna price was 36.04 million yen (170,000 yen per kg) for the 212 kg tuna caught at Oma in Aomori Prefecture.

The Tokyo Global Gateway Green Springs is a facility where you can experience and learn English in a space that recreates the atmosphere of an overseas location without having to leave Japan and in futuristic settings.
A new program has been developed to encourage thinking about the rich nature of the Tama region in English as participants are immersed in situations that naturally solicit the speaking of English.

The “2023 Tokyo Senior Community Exchange Meeting Tokyo EN*joy!” (*EN = ‘connection’ in Japanese) was held at the Musashino Forest Sports Plaza (Chofu City), with dance sports on January 17 and Go, Shogi, and Health Mahjong on January 24. A karaoke contest was also held in Kodaira City on February 4. This was the first time in three years this meeting has been held due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On January 26, an experience event for media of “Come Ride the Future. Next-Generation Mobility Town Experience” was held on public roads in Tokyo Waterfront City of Koto Ward. In this event, four forms of mobility were presented for journalists to experience until February 6, including a self-driving EV (electric vehicle) bus, a new type of autonomous mobility chair for tourism, and a suitcase-shaped robot that automatically guides visually impaired persons to their destinations.
