In the lecture given to school children, Yukako Hata spoke about her leg amputation when she was 13 years old, the struggles until she was able to practice sports again and how she became a Paralympian in triathlon.

Profile paratriathlon athlete Yukako Hata
Born in Chiba Prefecture. Started swimming at the age of three. When 13 years old, she developed osteosarcoma and was forced to amputate the thigh of her right leg. Resumed swimming with a swimming team in 2008. Switched to paratriathlon and obtained the permission to participate in the Rio de Janeiro Paralympics only four years later.
