June 25, 2019 Former rhythmic gymnastics Fairy Japan Airi Hatakeyama visited Fussa Daisan (3rd) Elementary School. In her lecture given to the students, Airi Hatakeyama talked about how she came to work as a rhythmic gymnast and experiences such as difficult events. She conveyed the message, “I want you to find something that fulfills you” and “That you value challenges.”

Regarding the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, “I want children to pay attention not only to winning athletes and medalists, but also to the beauty of facial expressions and regrets of athletes who did not achieve the aimed results.”
Profile rhythmic gymnast Airi Hatakeyama
Born in Tokyo. Began with rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 6 and joined the Rhythmic Gymnastics Japan National Team in her third year of junior high school. At the age of 17, she participated in the London 2012 Olympics and got placed 7th in the group competition. She also participated in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics and got placed 8th in the group competition. She announced retirement after the Rio 2016 Games. Currently teaching rhythmic gymnastics, giving lectures, and active in media.
